  2. These treats are deadly for dogs. I gave my 9 month old beagle one yesterday and it made him deathly sick, lifeless and crying. Please don’t give them to your dogs. The bag says they are made in China. Don’t believe Purina. Luckly my dog made it through it.

  3. I finally figured why my dogs were sick after putting 2 & 2 together today….
We buy the Blue Freedom Puppy canned food for our pups a flat at a time. We have fed our dogs this particlar food since they have been able to eat solid food, they are almost 1 year old. Petsmart only had 9 cans available instead of the regular 12 this last trip. Last week, all 3 of our puppies had bad diarrhea and really bad vomitting. We figured it was probably something gross they ate in the backyard. This week I go to feed them a can of wet food (they share 1 can of wet food a day), since they seemed better. I opened the can and found black spots I have never seen before. I threw it out. I contacted Blue for an explanation and they said not to worry. I opened another can today and it had the same black spots. ALL OF THE WET FOOD WE FED OUR DOGS THE WEEK THEY WERE SICK HAD THE SAME SELL BY DATE. I have searched the yard for any signs of something else that could have made them ill, but nothing. I was pretty worried because I watch these dogs like a hawk after the dominance fight the girls had a short time ago and I haven’t encountered any issues. Its too much of a coincidence that ALL 3 PUPS were sick for 7 days, after 6 of those cans were fed. When I stopped the wet food, they got better. Please, if you have ANY of this particular food with the expiration date of FEBRUARY 4TH 2018 RETURN IT TO THE STORE AND LET THEM KNOW.

  4. Has there been a Purina Friskies Salmon Pate’ formal recall yet? I have been searching online, but have not found anything official about a Friskie Recall for Salmon Pate. The situation is: My sister has 7 barn cats, and also volunteers at Colville Valley Animal Sanctuary. Whenever the cats in the two separate locations were fed the Salmon Pate, they all threw up. Through out the year at the Colville Valley Animal Sanctuary all of the cats that were eating the Friskies Salmon Pate they all threw up – at least 600 cats through out the year. Yes the Friskies Salmon Pate has been banned from the shelter, and my sisters home. Advice on a healthier brand would be appreciated. Colville Valley Animal Shelter is in Stevens County and is only supported through public donations and runs with volunteers only. Cost is an important consideration. The pet food has been purchased primarily in bulk from Walmart and Costco.
    Advice is welcome.

    • No there isn’t, but I strongly suggest you report this situation to the FDA! Take a look at the essential reading on Poisoned Pets for advice on what to do in situations like this:http://www.poisonedpets.com/essentials/. The food I recommend is not affordable for shelters – (Honest Kitchen). If you can, avoid these ingredients: Animal fat, animal digest, meat and bone meal, animal by-products – they are rendered ingredients (the unnamed sources of meat are mystery meat). I wish I had better advice.
