Help Send Pet Food & Warm Jackets to the Furry Victims of Hurricane Sandy!

Susan Thixton of Truth About Pet Food spearheaded a special campaign to help pets affected by Hurricane Sandy. She was able to gather together a group of seasoned Hurricane Sandy pros and some big-hearted animal lovers to help make a difference to people with pets that are still in desperate for pet food and supplies. Susan made a special arrangement with a fabulous online retailer who generously offered to help.

Thousands of homes remained without power, heat and hot water Thursday. Many are fighting to stay warm in the freezing cold as winter approaches and thousands are still finding that food supplies for themselves and their pets is difficult, if not impossible, to obtain. Some walk miles or use precious gasoline driving from location to location only to find the charities are out of supplies.

Many people have empathized with their plight, and one of those generous souls was Bob Foster of Brehons Pet Supply who didn’t hesitate when Susan asked for his help. Bob worked a deal with Fromm Pet Food for a 20% discount on any Fromm pet food.  And he managed to get a volunteer to drive the shipment of pet food directly to a distribution center in the NY/Long Island area.

When you make your purchase/donation of pet food from Brehons only a small shipping fee will be added to cover the cost of the U-Haul truck and the gas to deliver the food by simply choosing ‘Shipping’ instead of ‘Pickup’ during checkout.

The Brehons delivery will go to Veterinary Emergency Center, in Staten Island, New York.  Rachel of Veterinary Emergency Center told Susan they have already been working with shelters, rescue groups, and other veterinarians in the NY/NJ area to distribute pet food donations where pet parents can pick up desperately needed pet food and supplies.

Your purchases will go to needy families with pets in the New York areas, Staten Island, Long Island and New Jersey who are still struggling in the wake of the devastation that Sandy left behind.

A great big thanks to Susan Thixton of Truth About Pet Food, Brehons Pet Supply, Mike’s Feed Farm and to DoggingtonPost.com, and DogsNaturallyMagazine.com for spreading the word.  All of these pet people did not hesitate to help. Oh, and I helped too! pat on back
